This beautifully finished LIP gaff is designed to land the largest fish by simply sliding the gaff point under the lip of the fish causing minimum harm enabling a quick weigh and release as determined. It not only floats but is machine turned from a US Maple hardwood and treated with vegetable oil to enhance the grain and presentation. The diamond shape 6mm s/s gaff head is meticulously whipped onto the handle with 3mm braid for a permanently secure fit. It comes with a s/s protector point guard, s/s eye screw and lanyar. The overall length is 550mm (21 1/2 ”) long and weighs just 280gms. (10oz.) a perfect fit for the front storage compartment of your Jetski, Kayak or small runabout. It really is a beautiful piece of art and practical working tool for all fishing.

This operation is a precise, gentle, accurate, capture procedure for the purpose of either keeping or releasing your catch.
A LIP gaff is not a heavy duty killing machine causing mayhem while your catch is still thrashing and fighting for survival to avoid capture . There are other gaffs for that purpose!!
Rather, your LIP gaff is for gently bringing your subdued catch on board incurring minimal damage (small hole under the bottom lip) using a specific capture technique. Ensure the fish is completely exhausted (hopefully through an epic battle!) then carefully gaff the fish under the bottom lip. Always hold your LIP Gaff in the vertical position when lifting your catch on board thereby spreading the weight to the 6mm gaff head.
If your Wooden Gaff shows signs of wear & tear you may invigorate the timber with a few coatings of vegetable oil.
